SUMMER 2008 CLASS SCHEDULE

Saturday Classes

1-5 pm

July 19th- Socks 2@ a Time- learn how to work 2 socks on 2 circular needles. We'll use a worsted weight yarn in class so bring all the circulars you have in sizes 4, 5 and 6 and 2 double points in any of those sizes. This is a free class, but we do ask that you buy your yarn and any needles you may need from us. We will practice on a baby sock and if you'd like to start an adult size sock we'll get you going with those.

July 26th – Oddball Enterlac- turn your novelty yarn leftovers and oddballs into a truly wonderful scarf/stole. Don't have any oddballs? - don't worry, we're cleaning out the store room and will have our oddballs on deep discount- nothing over $5.00! Free class.

August 2nd – Dyeing to Spin- learn how to dye rovings for variegated and striped yarns. The class is free and materials will run about $30.00 including 1 lb of roving. If we have time and you'd like to dye more you may of course buy more roving.

August 9th – Oddball Afghans- we'll have 4 patterns for you to choose from: the Log Cabin Afghan, a ripple afghan, a mitered square afghan and the Rambling Rows afghan. They all use worsted or bulky yarn, so bring in your leftovers and get started on something wonderful that will keep you toasty this winter. The class is free but the Log Cabin and Rambling Rows patterns will need to be purchased.

August 23rd – Improve your Skills Afghan- this is a new series of classes for us. Each month we'll take an area of knitting and plan 2 (or more) afghan squares with those techniques. We'll start with intarsia knitting in this class.

Intarsia knitting is working isolated motifs or blocks of color in your knitting- argyles are an example or knitting 1 heart or flower in a garment. The classes will be free, we just ask that you buy your yarn from us.

September 6th – 2 New Sock Heels- learn how to work a reknittable heel and a short row heel. We'll work with a worsted yarn so bring the appropriate size double points, 12 inch circ or 2 circulars to try out what you learned in the 2 @ a Time Socks. Free class.

September 13th Oddball Sweater Class- stop into the shop to see the picture of this unusual mitered sweater. You'll need a collection of leftovers that work up at 4-5 sts/ inch and a coordinating main color that you can buy at class. We'll get started on the back of the sweater during class and pick times to meet and work on the fronts and sleeves.

September 27th The Improve Your Skills Afghan Class- this month we will work on knit and purl stitch patterns. We have 4 patterns for you to choose from and we'll concentrate on recognizing knit and purl stitches, using charts and tips for faster pattern knitting. The class is free, we just ask that you buy your yarn from us.

Just FYI- future afghan classes will include short rows, multiple cables, lace, slip stitch patterns and reversible stitch patterns.

SPINNING

FRIDAY July 26 5-8pm

We aren't experts but we have a lot of fun and we will teach newbies all we can. We have wheels at the shop which you can use if you think you'd like to give it a try. There is no charge for the group but we do ask that you register – you can just give a call & let us know you're coming (this is the only group you can register for by phone). So if you've been wanting to give spinning a try or you'd just like to hang out & spin with other spinners – please join us. Since some of you may be coming here straight from work, we'll order some pizza around 6 o'clock or so and then just spin to our hearts are content!

On Going Knitting Classes

Tuesday Night Regulars meet 6pm-8:00 pm (or thereabouts). Bring whatever you're working on or need help with. We order dinner around 6:15 since some knitters come straight from work, but this isn't required. Cost is $10.00 per session.

Wednesday Morning Regulars meet from 11 AM- 1PM. Bring whatever you are working on or learn to knit. Cost is $60.00 for six sessions or $10.00 per session.
